Job Overview :
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our IT team. The SQL DBA will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server systems. The successful candidate will ensure the availability and consistent performance of our corporate applications.
Key Responsibilities :
Database Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain all SQL Server instances across development, testing, and production environments.
Database Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance tasks such as database tuning, backup/restoration, and health checks to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
Performance Tuning and Optimization: Monitor system’s health and performance, and troubleshoot performance issues. Optimize and tune databases for performance efficiency.
Data Security and Recovery: Implement security measures to protect data integrity and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations. Manage disaster recovery and backup systems.
Troubleshooting: Provide on-call support for critical production systems. Troubleshoot SQL Server service outages as they occur, including after-hours and weekends.
User Management: Manage and administer database users, roles, and permissions. Ensure proper access controls are in place to protect sensitive data.
Database Design and Development: Work with application developers to create and modify database structures as necessary. Design and implement database schema and structures to support application requirements.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation for database environments, procedures, and configurations. Generate and analyze reports on database performance and health.
Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts to automate routine database tasks. Utilize tools and technologies to improve operational efficiencies.
Profil
Qualifications :
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in database administration, including experience with SQL Server.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in SQL Server installation, configuration, and maintenance.
Strong understanding of database theory, design, and structure.
Experience with performance tuning and optimization using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
Knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery plans.
Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems.
Proficiency in SQL query language and scripting.
Experience with database management tools such as sp_Blitz®, sp_WhoIsActive, and Profiler traces.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with cloud-based database solutions such as Azure SQL Database or AWS RDS.
Certification in Microsoft SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
Knowledge of other database systems like MySQL, Oracle, etc.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
